Open FormYour first visit to Central Illinois Spine is designed to be thorough, comfortable, and informative. Our goal is to understand your condition completely before recommending any treatment.
Arrive 10–15 minutes before your appointment to complete your new patient intake forms. You'll provide your health history, current medications, insurance details, and a description of your symptoms. If you download and complete the forms in advance, this step goes much faster.
One of our chiropractic physicians will meet with you to discuss your symptoms in depth — when they started, what makes them better or worse, and what treatments you've already tried. This conversation shapes your entire care plan. Your first visit is designed for your doctor to learn more about you, your condition, and your expectations to determine the best path forward.
Your doctor will perform a thorough physical and orthopedic examination — testing range of motion, reflexes, nerve function, and muscle strength. This identifies the specific spinal segments or structures involved and helps rule out contraindications for treatment.
If appropriate, your doctor may take digital X-rays in our clinic or review any MRI, CT, or X-ray films you've brought from previous providers. Imaging helps confirm the diagnosis and ensures your treatment plan is calibrated to your actual anatomy. We also feature exclusive Digital Motion X-Ray (DMX) technology that captures spinal movement in real time.
Your doctor will review their findings with you, explain your diagnosis in plain language, and present a personalized treatment plan — which may include chiropractic adjustments, spinal decompression, physical therapy, or a combination approach. You'll know exactly what's recommended and why before any treatment begins.
In many cases, you'll begin your first treatment on the same day as your initial exam. Many patients report relief after their very first session — though lasting results typically develop over a treatment plan tailored to your specific condition. Most first visits take 45–60 minutes. Plan accordingly.
Chiropractic care is like building a house — certain things must happen in a particular order for everything to stand strong. Your body has to go through a structured plan of care to repair itself correctly and fully.
The primary goal in this phase is to reduce your pain and symptoms as quickly as possible. Depending on the severity of your condition, it may be necessary to come in for care 2–3 times per week initially. Most patients see measurable improvement within the first few visits.
Once your most severe symptoms have been relieved, we focus on correcting the underlying cause of the problem. Muscles and other soft tissues are allowed to heal more completely, reducing the likelihood of re-injury. Visits are typically reduced to once or twice per week.
Once your body has fully healed and stabilized, we recommend periodic wellness visits to maintain your spinal health and prevent new problems from developing. Many patients choose to continue care monthly or quarterly — investing in long-term function and quality of life.
We make navigating insurance as simple as possible. Our team verifies your benefits before your first visit — so you know exactly what to expect and there are no surprises.
If you don't see your insurance listed, call us at (309) 268-9000. We work with many additional plans and are happy to verify your coverage before you come in.

"I have never been so happy I came to CIS. I could barely walk — I had a herniated disc in my lower back and degenerative disc disease from my time in the Army. I am stronger now than I have been in over 11 years. I can do everything if not more than before, I have no pain. Central Illinois Spine, you have SAVED MY LIFE!"
"After several unsuccessful attempts with other chiropractors in the area, a friend referred me to CIS for a shoulder issue that had been plaguing me. From day one I felt welcomed. The physical therapy team took great care to ensure that my progression didn't include any roadblocks. They are professionals you can trust."
"After a year of back aches and headaches just from everyday life, my sister suggested I make an appointment. Through chiropractic adjustments and physical therapy, the amazing team helped me get to the point where I have almost no pain.
