Why All The Back Surgery?

Back pain affects up to 80 percent of Americans at some point in their lives. Let’s face it, most of us will experience some sort of back pain in our lives. The scary thing is, lower back pain is the most common disability among people under the age of 45! Another scary fact…back pain costs more than $100 billion annually in the USA. Over $20 billion of that is spent on back surgery. This means that over 1 million people in the United States undergo back surgery EVERY YEAR. That rate is double that of the majority of developed countries in the world. The out of pocket cost to a back surgery patient can range from $8,000 to $90,000. That doesn’t include the lost wages these patients endure due to their time out of work to recover from their back surgery. Complications from these surgeries can include infections, nerve damage and permanent disability. Some studies show the failure rate of a back surgery to be as high as 50 percent. 1 in 50 patients dies within three years of surgery. That is terrifying! We have answered the call to these patients with our Spinal Decompression therapy.

At Allied Health Group, we believe in non-evasive, non-surgical procedures to get patients back to optimal health and back to living the life they deserve to live. 86% of patients that use spinal decompression have had ”good or excellent” results. A team of physicians from such prestigious institutions as Johns Hopkins University, Stanford University, and Georgetown University conducted a clinical trial that concluded: Patients who underwent non-surgical spinal decompression experienced, on average, a 74% decrease in pain. They also experienced an average of a 17% increase in disc height! Dr. Timothy Kremcheck, M.D., says ”If I have a patient that comes in, I don’t care who they are, and they’ve got back or neck pain, before I would ever recommend that they had a surgery, a surgical procedure, an invasive procedure, I would recommend spinal decompression because there’s no down side to trying and it works.”
